Changes to the Board of Directors

• Isabel Fernandez (Madrid) and Vasile Deleanu (Bucharest) have left the Board and we thank them for their contribution and many years of service, to be marked more properly when we next meet;
• David Elvira (Barcelona) has joined the Board; and
• Stuart Miller (London) has been re-elected following the expiry of previous term of office.

Membership news:

As mentioned in Prague, we have been discussing new membership with some old friends:

Netherlands: We are delighted to welcome back into the WLN family our former Chairman, Wim Weijers and his team at Falcq Advocaten. Look carefully at their website and some of you will also recognise the face of Frank Linders in the team. We are so pleased to have them back with us and look forward to seeing them in Barcelona!

Italy: Our conversation with Domizia Badodi and her new team at Studio Legale Themis (including Paola Prati who joined us in Prague) is moving forward very positively. We hope to have more to announce soon!

Denmark: our colleagues at the Nordia law firm in Copenhagen recently decided to wind up their office and so we have sadly had to accept the termination of their WLN membership. We thank Simon Sørensen and the rest of the Nordia team for all their past efforts for WLN and hope not to lose contact as they make their way to other firms. WLN is actively looking for a new membership solution in Copenhagen and the rest of Denmark and we are optimistic of achieving a good outcome soon.

Upcoming event news

• We have an exciting WLN conference lined up in Barcelona from 15-17 Sept 2016. Please register via our Conference App to be found in the WLN members’ area. You will need a profile on the website to do this. If you do not have one, please contact Helle Hylleberg by email and she will set one up for you. Your firm’s WLN Liaison Partner has all the details too! We will be launching the new WLN Academy concept in Barcelona.

• In October 2016, our WLN colleagues Morningstar Law Group in Raleigh, North Carolina will be hosting a seminar event called “Going Global”, together with a regional investment bank and accountancy firm, aimed at showcasing WLN’s capacity in advising on international investments. WLN speakers will be present.

• WLN is planning a ground-breaking business development mission to India in early February 2017, hosted by Gautam Khurana of India Law Offices in Delhi. It is open to all WLN members and we will be inviting lawyers from several countries in the Asia-Pacific region, with a view to developing closer working relationships. More details soon to follow.

If you are interested to be kept informed about this important initiative or any of the above mentioned subjects, please contact Helle Hylleberg.
