29 March 2018

The Warwick Legal Network (“WLN”) Board is delighted to announce that agreement has been reached with the ASEAN Legal Alliance ("ALA" - www.asianlegalalliance.net) for co-operation between their networks, in client work covering more than 40 countries worldwide - with a combined strength of over 750 lawyers.

Under this new arrangement, the members of each network will have access to each other’s legal skills for all client work. The signing of an MoU on 1 March 2018 in Dublin will allow both networks to leverage on the geographical reach and wealth of experience of each other's member firms, in serving clients across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

WLN members’ clients will gain access to experienced, well qualified and carefully selected legal counsel in the ASEAN countries, which include some of the fastest growing economies in the world. In addition, WLN members will be able to tap into the wider Asian region, where individually and collectively ALA members have a solid track record. The networks will also develop a joint professional training programme.

Stuart Miller, Managing Director of WLN commented: “Both ALA and WLN exist to service rapidly developing demand for high quality legal advice internationally which comes from the clients of our member firms. That demand relates to inward investment projects, employment, commercial and technology agreements, brand protection, dispute resolution and all typical elements of business life. The combined capacity of our networks will help many businesses to find the best legal advice from experienced and competitive professionals.”

It is timely that we have come together to form this network to network strategic alliance with the WLN. ALA currently has 13 law firms across 20 cities in Asia including the ASEAN countries with 250 lawyers. We now have a global reach for our clients” said Aloysius Wee, Chairman of ALA.

Background

WLN remains committed to the ethos of developing close working relationships between the highest quality law firms in the commercial mid-market, to serve our clients wherever they need us.
